eOne assigns toy distribution in LatAm

Entertainment One is growing its presence in LatAm by signing a new master toy partner for its preschool properties.

The London-based company has tapped Sunny as master toy distributor for its Ricky Zoom and Peppa Pig brands in Brazil and Mexico. The toyco will bring previously created Peppa Pig toylines to retail in Q2, and will also distribute TOMY's Ricky Zoom toys (pictured) and playsets in those regions later this year.

The company's PJ Masks brand is also getting new CP in the region this year, with previously signed licensees Candide (PJ Masks vehicles), Elka (PJ Masks figurines) and Grow (PJ Masks puzzles)—rolling out products during Q2 2020 in Brazil.

LatAm is a big up-and-coming market for toys. The top three toy markets in LatAm in 2018 were Brazil, with a value of US$5.6 billion in 2018; Mexico, which reached US$3.5 billion; and Argentina at US$1.2 billion, according to market research firm Statista.

eOne's preschool shows have already begun building up an audience in the region, with Peppa Pig earning the top-rated spot on Discovery Kids LatAm, according to eOne. The series also airs on free-to-air channels TV Cultura (Brazil) and Televisa (Mexico). Discovery Kids LatAm launched the studio's new show Ricky Zoom this past September. Meanwhile, Disney Junior will air season three and season four of PJ Masks in the region this year.
