Ken Block reveals renderings of next toy the "Hoonifox" carbon-fiber Ford Mustang

Gambar
Ken Block is following up his 1,400-horsepower 1965 Ford Mustang Hoonicorn with a Mustang of more recent vintage. Block's next toy will be a Fox-body Mustang dubbed "Hoonifox." Block teased the car with a handful of Facebook posts Wednesday, then fully revealed renderings in a video Thursday. The Fox-body Mustang will feature a carbon-fiber widebody kit. Like Block's previous builds, appearing stock wasn't high on the list of priorities. The bodywork was penned by Ash Thorp, who also worked on the new Batmobile. Block said he wanted to combine a mechanical package similar to the Hoonicorn with the 1980s styling of the Fox body. Under the skin, the Hoonifox will feature a "rally-spec" all-wheel drive system, according to Road & Track. The magazine reports that Block hasn't decided on a powertrain yet, but possible candidates include a Roush-Yates V-8 (like the first version of the Hoonicorn) or a 3.5-liter EcoBoost twin-turbo V-6, similar to

Escalating the chase

Gambar
I'll be the first to admit I have a problem. I love cars. By that, I just don't mean the metal itself. I enjoy the many aspects of owning a car. I've met some really good people through social circles attached to particular marques. Then there's cliquey groups, fanboys / fangirls, rivalries, and general workshop related banter to provide entertainment while you own something that's revered as a bit of a cult classic. Simply put, I'm a bit of a tragic. An Anorak. That means I often like buying cars. In order to keep things from spiralling out of control, my wife has mandated that I must sell my toy, project car, money pit, whatever you want to call it, before I buy my next. I'm lucky enough to operate with such freedom, so hey, make hay while the sun shines. However, I began thinking deeper about how I could get my car chase fix while still owning a car. Part of the fun with any hobby, is the treasure hunt. It's great to spend time on clas

Super Toy Cars 2 Review

Gambar
Ever since the disappointment of 2017's Micro Machines World Series reboot, there has been a void in the toy car racing genre that is waiting to be filled. Many indie games have tried to plug the gap, but can the second iteration of Super Toy Cars manage where others have failed? A sequel to the 2015 game, Super Toy Cars 2 attempts to double down on that feeling you had as a kid creating elaborate tracks on virtually any surface you could think of whilst racing and playing with your toy cars. In-game obstacles can be anything: a sausage, a salt shaker, a pine cone, cassette tapes and even an octopus teddy. The level design is highly imaginative across a variety of backdrops including a summer BBQ, an American themed diner, kid's playroom, a music studio and more. There are 16 tracks in total and range from more traditionally designed circuits to those featuring branching paths and corkscrews. Of course, a racing game can only be as good as th

NASCAR team owner Richard Childress is auctioning off more than 50 years' worth of racing items to help COVID-19 relief efforts, even parting ways with one of his most prized vehicles: A No. 3 Dale Earnhardt race car. If sold, it would be the first time Childress parted with an Earnhardt car, according to the Charlotte Observer. It's unclear which car is for sale, but RCR officials told the Observer it comes complete with an engine. Childress started the auction Thursday and currently has over 100 items for sale, everything from seat cushions to action figures and toy cars. RCR officials said all proceeds will go toward COVID-19 efforts such as Feeding America.   RCR began as a one-man team in 1969, according to its website, with Childress serving as a driver, mechanic and engine builder. After 12 years and 285 NASCAR Grand National/Cup series starts, though, Childress began focusing

Faking a ‘Rolling’ Photo Shoot with a Toy Car and a Treadmill

Gambar
After a potential opportunity with Lamborghini fell through, automotive photographer Kunal Kelkar decided to try and replicate the experience at home. How, you ask? Instead of a road, he used a treadmill; and instead of a real Lamborghini, he used a toy version. The idea dawned on Kelkar at the end of a home workout, when he realized that the treadmill belt looked similar to a road in montion, "something that every automotive photographer would be familiar with from hanging out from the back of a car to take rolling shots," he explains. "It was a eureka moment and I thought, technically it is just like a rolling road, so it should give me the similar results to if I were photographing tracking or rig shots of a real car," he tells Motortrend. "I tried it out immediately, and it was exactly as I had imagined." The process itself was pretty simple. A 1:18-scale Lamborghini Huracán replica was attached to the treadmill using a string to

It's a cool look at what goes on behind the scenes of classic game animation. 1991'sAnother World holds up remarkably well, thanks in part to its use of rotoscoping. The term refers to the practice of taking recorded footage and animating on top of it in order to make it look more realistic.(Think of the 80s cult classic Fire and Ice or early Mortal Kombat.) Chahi used rotoscoping to record toy models and transform them into carefully animated scenes that form the basis of Another World's narrative. Chahi's tweet was a gif from a longer gif previously released by Last of Us 2 animator Jonathan Cooper, showing Chahi's use of rotoscopin

Trusting parrot loves to cuddle with his owner Parrots are very social creatures. In the wild, they live in flocks; in captivity, they like to cuddle and be spoken to by their human companions. Not all parrots like to cuddle and it isn't so much about training than it is about you being in tune with your bird and learn to work with its personality. A parrot's comfort level with people can vary greatly. Some just like their personal space. If your bird doesn't like to be touched, you will need to learn how to approach it in order to make it comfortable. Short, frequent sessions are best and don't overdo it if your bird gets tired. You can always try again another day. Einstein the Talking Texan Parrot is a silly, smart, and popular parrot who loves to talk and entertain! Lakewood Toy Store Closed Catered Party Halted Amid Coronavirus

LAKEWOOD, NJ — Eight people are facing charges after a toy store was shut down and a children's party was broken up in Lakewood, both of which violated emergency orders from Gov. Phil Murphy during the coronavirus outbreak, the state attorney general's office announced Tuesday. The violations were among two dozen in the daily report from state Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal and New Jersey State Police Superintendent Col. Patrick Callahan of violations of Murphy's March 21 stay-at-home order that is part of efforts to slow the spread of the virus. The two incidents are the latest in a string of issues that have frustrated residents of neighboring towns as social distancing has been stressed for more than a month. There have been more than a dozen incidents that police have had to break up dating back to March 17, the day Murphy's initial order limiting gatherings to 50 people or fewer took effect. He eventually banned gatherings completely. Don't miss local and Ne
